Hi, I am Cathy Silva!


I love learning about nutrition and cooking, and how to use this info to stay healthy.


This weekend it has been more about cooking. I have been having fun trying out a bar pizza recipe. In bar pizza recipes, the dough is more crackerish To achieve this texture you need to prevent the gluten from forming. To do this you add fat (my recipe used butter and corn oil) to the flour at the beginning of the recipe to prevent gluten from forming. It tasted great!


I am sure pizza is not on the menu for many with the start of the New Year. It was not on my diet plan last January since I was doing the Keto diet. Keto is a great diet and I will share in future posts some of the benefits, as well as some of the cons. The pizza I had for lunch is being balanced tonight with roast chicken and mashed sweet potatoes. Still trying to decide on the vegetable - it may come down to the one that is easiest to prep.



My Why?

So why am I blogging? To share my knowledge of nutrition and cooking. I worked in the nutrition field for many years and my knowledge is vast. This knowledge has helped me keep my husband and I very healthy over the years. We are close to retirement age and we are not dealing with any chronic health problems. I can't imagine not having this information in my head all these years on an everyday basis when I am cooking and trying to maintain our health given the nature of life and its stressors.


In this blog, I will share with you how I assess/approach different health problems, things to consider before during and after following weight loss diets, and fun facts about food.


Prioritizing Health

Eating healthy and seeking wellness has always been a priority in my life. Hoping you want to make it a priority in your life.
